Will I Ever Be Good Enough?

  • The rising pressure to fit into society’s unrealistic standards has continued to assert itself onto teens’ lives, resulting in an increase in depression and anxiety. More and more struggle with self image and self expression, with the added stigma of social media. Many young people struggle each day with the question, “Will I Ever Be Good Enough?”, after spending countless hours comparing themselves to photoshopped models and the media’s absurd expectations. Many feel the pressure to “conform” to popular trends, just to receive a basic sense of acceptance from others.

    The dark setting of the background and window represents the desolate, hopeless mood of those who are undergoing conflicting emotions with their own identity, scared to be their true selves. Additionally, the body language and hand position of the portrayed person suggests of a kind of insecurity, one that makes you afraid of society’s opinions and hurtful words.

  • Expressing creativity means reaching into the depths of my imagination to create unique, innovative scenarios. This allows me to explore the meaning of life, and to develop my own original perspective on life, giving rise to relevant topics and issues.
