When I was making this piece, I wanted to convey the feeling of finally being able to escape one’s inner demons. We each have our own struggles that we face, and being able to overcome them and unfetter our restraints is one of the best feelings someone can have. This piece depicts a woman once trapped in the darkness breaking free from her chains, with the shining light above her being the last step to freedom. I used “Procreate” on my iPad to make this artwork.

Exploring and expressing my creativity has greatly impacted my life as it allows me to share who I am as a person through the form of art. I also find great joy in being able to take the things I’m inspired by and make something new which I can call my own.
