Train To Nowhere

This piece is about the experience of never truly feeling like you belong somewhere- whether that be in a social situation or a particular setting. The focus is a person in a suit, holding a grocery bag with a poised manner. They could be anyone returning home after a long day, but the subtle difference in drawing style, wolf head, and blank stare makes it seem as though either they or the viewer are very out of place on this train. The warm color palette is meant to convey familiarity, akin to a children's book illustration, as well as give the piece somewhat of a vintage photograph or postcard look. I sketched several thumbnails on paper before finally settling on a composition and tested different color combinations digitally as I went along. The digital painting part of the process was very enjoyable, and I felt like I could trust my skill enough to try multiple things without worrying about the end product.

Unrestrained, my creativity allows me to push boundaries, to improve my artistic skills, to draw inspiration from anything, and to convey my views in an original manner. I think creativity is a gift, my goal is to use it to create art that will resonate with others and make a lasting impact.
