“Sunday Afternoon” is an oil painting that captures me in my room doing some of my favorite activities. On the carpet lay my painting utensils and an unfinished painting of a Pintail duck. Towards the left side, I drew myself reading a book. I utilized warm colors, mostly a mix of red, brown, and orange for the carpet and the wall, and contrasting cool tones for the bed and the pillows. I also used light shades of gray for the shadow of the objects placed on the table, and the chair. For the shadow of the objects placed on the carpet, I used a darker shade of brown. In addition, I used a blend of yellow, white, and ochre to depict the sunlight hitting on the walls. In order to paint the carpet, I focused on the fine details by using a small signature brush to paint the texture of the carpet. For other parts of the painting like the bed, I concentrated on recreating all the folds and bends on the blankets. Overall, I tried focusing on the small details and the orientation of the objects to recreate the evening in perspective.
