Rain by Grandson and J. Reyez

  • This is a cover of Rain by Grandson and Jessie Reyez, recorded and produced by me. I started this project with just a midi piano. Once I got the chords in for the base structure, I added in the drums for the beat and then recorded the guitar. After those essentials were in, I started playing around with sounds I could add. Some of the instruments I ended up adding were an 808, a horn, and a choir. After that, I recorded the vocals and backup vocals. Then It was time to mix it. I struggled a bit with the levels of the guitar and vocals but got there eventually, and panning is such a satisfying activity. The video was comprised of clips I took during the production process and the rain storms. I had a really fun time working on the whole thing.

  • It's fun, and it makes me happy. Art lets me express emotions and thoughts that I might not normally share. Music and performance arts give me a chance to collaborate and connect with other people in a way that doesn't happen in everyday life.
