In art class earlier this year I had to construct a mask using a variety of different textures and patterns. The mask was supposed to represent yourself and your personality through animals and mythical creatures. My favorite animal by far is a monkey. I admire their creativity, playfulness, and ability to understand and communicate through different means. I used a paper bag to construct the face shape and cut up magazines to add color and texture to the mask. I had never really used so many different techniques in one art project. I really enjoyed the process of making this mask, and recommend every artist to try something like this even if it's not something you're used to. Art should be enjoyable, don't fear mistakes, and just have fun with whatever happens. Go with the flow!

I have trouble expressing my thoughts and emotions through conversation with other people. Music, art, and writing have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and be able to communicate through different means. I like to try new things and with art you can do anything you like!
