Ladylike

Aditi B.

  • This painting depicts a woman dressing up for a special occasion. Prior to creating this painting, I created a vision in my head of what I wanted this painting to look like. I wanted to make sure I captured the lighting on each object correctly. I wanted the sunlight to make the woman's skin glow, to make the water shimmer and take on an orange hue, to make the pillars reflect the golden light. I wanted the gold embroidery and jewelry to catch the eye. I wanted the birds in the distance to delicately direct one's attention to the woman's soft features. Most of all, I wanted to be proud.

And I think I can confidently say that I am.

  • To me, expressing my creativity allows me to see the world from a different point-of-view. This helps me notice and appreciate details that are often overlooked in the chaos of life. Art lets me take a break from the fast-paced craze of high school to enjoy the little things that we tend to miss.
