Aftermath

  • Creating this drawing, I considered a cause which has weighed on me heavily- the invasion of Ukraine. The events taking place, which appear to be quickly forgotten in the front of American media, remain just as, if not more, atrocious. I wanted to reflect on the child's experience particularly, since children are the future and being subject to the perils of war practically ensures that we are destroying our future. I feel this piece, while made in consideration of Ukraine, can be applicable to any psychological conflict and war. I drew the child sitting in the ruins of what used to be her old home and she looks at a clock, a remanent of her family. She wonders where her parents are. They must be playing hide and seek.

  • Drawing is a medium I've used since a young age to allow me to tell stories, create work I can be proud of, and relieve myself of boredom in school (very beneficial).
