"Insomnia" was created on 12' x 18' paper with colored pencils. It is a creative take on my struggles with insomnia, meant to show the struggle of being too tired to do anything but too mentally active to fall asleep. I symbolized this feeling by creating a character who is kept awake by ghosts that only she can see.

Illustration allows me to visually express complex ideas and reflect my experiences through the use of color, symbolism, and composition. Visual responses to literature, music, and other art forms also help me to interact with and to better understand the media that is important to me.
