For Other Voices

Izzy E.

  • I wrote my poem on child victimization the night I lost my dog, my best friend and companion. While in a devastated and vulnerable state, I felt the need to write for others in distressed states. I believed my healing process could impact others by giving them an example of a voice to begin their healing process. My writing explores deeper topics, especially regarding children, as they deserve to have voices even when they are muted by abuse, neglect, or abandonment. My parents gifted me with a life where I don't have to worry about finances, food, clothes, education, and more because my father was one of the children I write about. I write to shine light on issues cloaked in darkness and thank my parents for keeping me safe.

  • Exploring creativity has allowed me to view the world through a curious perspective. Curiosity encourages me to search for answers to questions I don't know yet and to understand our world's beauty and dangers.
