Fate

Alana M.

  • The meaning of my art is fate and vulnerability. If you have an idea of what biblical angels look like, they are the idea of what "true angels" look like. Giant eyes and many wings. That is why I decided to put angelic wings, a halo, and a bold eye in the middle, "looking out" to the rest. I see angels as guardians deciding your fate, and my fate was meeting the very important people in my life. Inside the box is empty, because it holds non-visible memories of giving yourself to someone you love, giving your trust, your all, and becoming 100% real and vulnerable to the person. The hand holding this box is the hand of yourself, giving your "box" of vulnerability and inner soul to this person. The connection created is what leads to the rose heart located on the back. For me, I see flowers or gardens as the body and mind. The beautiful creation of one's body (being a pretty rose) gets morphed into a heart because of those who love it. To some my box may seem like a weird-creative design with some sort of complicated meaning, but to others it can be seen as relatable. Everyone has had a vulnerability moment, and the meanings on my box portray just how something like that is given.

  • Being creative allows me to sometimes vent into my art, creating it into something beautiful, or even recreating a favorable memory. Thus being expressive impacts my life because it enlightens my friends and family by gifting them personalized art. Some may say my art is simple, but it's thoughtful.
