Exit Chaos

I explored the idea of our fascination with chaos in today’s society, specifically within the media. I have gained an awareness of this fascination as reality television is a guilty pleasure of mine and the most popular shows are the ones with the most organized chaos. Human beings like to watch for imbalance in other people’s lives, as long as it does not affect them. I started to question the continuation of this theme and explore the idea of how we will watch the world end through the broadcasting of chaos. I organized the composition to create movement in the objects and people that fill the page. I experimented with switching the settings of my pieces between chaos in a mundane place, like a laundromat, or chaos in an already chaotic place, like a subway. I also included a recurring recording symbol in the corner of my page along with the signature red border of a camera to both frame the composition and replicate the recording process of a television show.

I use art as a method of organizing my thoughts and finding beauty in them. I like to welcome the world into the chaos of my mind, and let others feel comfortable in the beauty of absurdity while still acknowledging the discomfort of chaos.
