Endless

Maile M.

  • My artwork, "Endless", is an acrylic painting on canvas. The idea came to me as a person whose hair was the sea. I sketched it out and then went to painting it. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I wanted to create a color palette for the woman's face that matched with the ocean and the sky. I liked creating a unifying element through the different pieces of the work. Instead of looking right at you, the viewer, she's looking off to the side, at something far in the distance. Her face is the beach as it meets the ocean. The moon reflects on the ocean as well as her forehead. Along with acrylic paints, I also used soft and hard gels to give texture to the waves and the seafoam as it hits her face. She is where the land meets the sea and she is also where the sea meets the sky. She continues forever but she also has two definitive ends.

  • I have always been creative, I used to create entire worlds in my head, then I discovered that I could put my ideas onto paper. I wasn't always happy with what my creations looked like, so I practiced a lot. Art has helped me through a lot. It gave me a way to de-stress and express myself.
