Is it worth the risk to pursue an art career? With all the stories you hear about what artists go through to make a living: overwork, burnout, poor pay, instability. Capitalism squeezes every ounce of creativity left to create maximum profit. It feels as though the odds are piled against you and only the lucky few will make it. Many young artists can’t take the risk, and it’s a real shame.
This piece was directly inspired by both my thoughts on pursuing an artistic career and the very recent phenomenon of ai art: with the large portrait on the top being drained into endless low-quality replicas. While the fate of ai art remains unknown, it has left a mark on many artists who have had their works stolen. Ai technology is impressive, the idea of it is incredible. It’s just the dubious ethics in question.

Creativity is an act of self expression tied to the experience and identity of the individual. It allows you to express your thoughts in a tangible way, for others to better understand you and the world around you. I find creativity to be a valuable tool in communication and understanding.
