• Artist Statement

  My photograph, "Doorway", depicts the graffiti and sticker covered wall of a Downtown New York building. The somewhat patterned fascia is broken up in its center by a large arching doorway, with a steel interior and glass inner entrance. When I first came across this location, I had known there was potential for something greater then my usual images. To create this image, I attempted to show an appropriate amount of the busy surrounding wall to contrast the stark and outstanding doorway. The building in which the doorway leads to is the United States COMME Des GARÇONS location in New York City, which was constructed inside an average building, leaving the exterior unmodified, to show the contrast of their unique design choices against the mundane and average.
