Disintegrating View

Finn D.

  • I wanted to explore the intersection of witchcraft, sacred geometry, and the hamsa sign. The different elements and mediums represents this intersection while collectively they work together. The fragments of old papers scattered across the piece help to create a feeling of collapse—the elements of a forgotten world colliding in between space and time, the magazine distortions a melting and melding of light and darkness. The eye at the center of the hand wards off evil and stands for a representation of protection. Ultimately, my intentions were to create mystery through symbols, fragments of papers serving as views into the past, and color.

  • I take a mixed media approach to varying areas of my life; blending mediums, writing, painting, drawing, collage in my work. Just as these mediums overlap, my interests intersect, this allows me to experiment and make connections even when I'm told I can't.
