Today’s society seeks perfection and advancement, resulting in the underlying issues to just remain in the underlay - this is what I continuously strive to depict in my work. I envisioned the idea of standards of American culture defying ethnic beauty. Growing up in America as an Indian, I struggled to find confidence in my heritage while trying to fit into American culture, but I grew to embrace and love myself regardless. The monotone colors emphasize the brown eyes, showing my innocence that I am unaware of the severity of changing my face to resemble what America considers beautiful as shown by the surgical marks.

From unrealistic body standards, to discrimination and stereotypes in the eyes of the general public, I try to express my itching thoughts and feelings of subjects that plague society as a whole or even what seems inconsequential in our day to day lives.
