This piece of Artwork was done in color pencils. My inspiration for my piece comes from my interest in Aztec mythology which I find to be very fascinating. Aztecs believe in multiple gods also known as sun deities, but my main focus is on three sun deities Huitzilopochtli, Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca. The first sun Tezcatlipoca, god of the night sky and sorcery, seen as the jaguar. The second sun Quetzalcoatl, god of the air and wind, is seen as the serpent. The first two sun deities were enemies, Quetzalcoatl was a peaceful king and priest but was betrayed by his brother Tezcatlipoca and his followers who practiced human sacrifices. The fifth sun Huitzilopochtli, god of war and sacrifice seen on top of the Aztec temple. Since Tezcatlipoca was causing darkness to the world, Huitzilopochtli was constantly fighting to keep the sun moving across the sky. So the Aztecs perform human sacrifices in the Templo Mayor, to feed Huitzilopochtli with human hearts and their blood.
