Red-eye, Red Eyes

Catherine Jane L.

  • Red-Eye, Red Eyes is a microfiction piece that tells the story of two runaway siblings trying to find a better life. I wrote it earlier this year as part of the creative writing program at my school, and it was one of the runner-ups in our annual microfiction competition. I wanted the narrator of the story to be shrouded in mystery so that the reader could project their own ideas and feelings onto them, and perhaps take something personal away from the story and their perception of it. I hope you enjoyed my piece, and I certainly enjoyed writing it!

  • For me, creativity is the act of rebellion against normalcy.
