Is That Child In Actual Danger

Josette M.

  • “Is That Child in Actual Danger” is a dark comedy about ignorance; a reflection of society and a satire of drama, reminiscent of the many Saturday Night Live gameshow sketches. I wrote the script to comment on the problematic nature of those ‘concerned’ by the lives of kids in interracial or LGBTQ+ couples, drawing on real-life experiences to express my frustrations on prejudice. Though over-the-top and dramatic, “Is that Child In Actual Danger” rings true to my sense of humor: weird, uncomfortable, and exaggerated commentary on real-life problems. It’s a gameshow, designed to humiliate it’s contestants in the most basic way, exposing their narrow mindset.

  • Creativity is the fun part of the brain that gives you ideas that aren’t always great. It’s precious and intimate, sharing your thoughts and ideas. Creativity is that little voice inside you that says ‘what if’. You have to hone it, hold it’s hand. It’s a form of that is expression uniquely human.
