Torrid summer and Shadowed love

Ella P.

  • Poetry is my favorite way of self expression. The creative process in writing “Torrid summer” was about balancing desire and reality. The fawn symbolizes a wish for motivation, while the heat and rough road reflect the struggle of moving forward. Each line contrasts fleeting relief with the persistent weight of hardship. In writing “shadowed love” I wanted to capture the pain of hiding my girlfriend from my father. The mention of shadows and secrecy reflects the constant need to hide, while holding such longing to be openly proud and happy. The poem builds towards an escape, where love, deemed unacceptable by the world, finds peace only in a final act of defiance. Through simple language, I aimed to convey the emotional tension between love and fear, ending with a sense of freedom beyond judgment.

  • Creativity to me is any form of art and self expression. Its about showcasing new and unique ideas, pushing boundaries, and being meaningful with your time.
