• Artist Statement

  I have been struggling with my self lately, especially regarding my beliefs and who I am. In doing so, I have realized the differences between my family and I and how I do not think the same as them. This has led to some disagreements and feelings that I hope I expressed in my poems. They are about familial pressure and the difficulty of choosing yourself even if it means that people you love will not fully support you or view you the same way. I also wanted to express how parental expectations for their children affect the children themselves and how they see themselves and the kind of things they do and say.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity means expression of things that cannot be easily said or said at all. In this way, I believe it is positively unusual and unconventional. It helps us to understand a point through a different lens and way of explanation. Creativity is a unique idea being expressed.
