For A Single Reason

Ray L.

  • The story is romance based in a science fiction setting, focuses on how a traveler Ray, in his grief for his partner Grey, who went missing during a meteor shower on their way to Earth, spends three hours on their spacecraft ”Alioth” after landing, eventually gathers his mind to begin his journey again. The story was derived from a long-term project I’ve been working on about the two travelers recovering from their past trauma through their trip all over the universe. I have been writing for them for the past 6 years, and adapted a multiverse structure to organize the collections of stories I wrote for them. In this specific thread, something terrible happened on their trip, and focus on how Ray moves on in the future. On the timeline, this short film script is before the actual story starts, and I wanted to focus on the protagonist’s internal development.

  • Despite having a supportive mother, I used to feel isolated from my peers and felt uneasy expressing my gender and artistic identity. Throughout the moments of crisis, art allowed me to cope through continual practices, as love and intimate relationships became an indispensable aspect of my character and story’s morals.
