The Unraveling Truth

Sathvik V.

  • The idea for this story actually stemmed from an idea I had to make the craziest twist possible for a detective story, which then evolved into something more psychological. Inspired by George Orwell’s 1984, I drew from the concept of doublethink—the mind’s ability to hold two contradictory beliefs at once. This is seen with Detective Elias Carr, who exists in a psychological limbo where he’s not only the pursuer of justice, but also the one evading it. This story was, at least for me, an exploration of the maze of guilt, denial, and self-doubt that was his mind, where the line between hero and villain blurred. Overall, the greatest mystery wasn’t the crime—but the mind behind it, and how far it would go to avoid confronting the truth.

  • Creativity is the ability to freely connect ideas in unexpected ways to express something meaningful. In my opinion, its most important aspects are curiosity, innovation, and the exploration of new ideas—traits that shape our world and make humans- well, human.
