The Son

Ari C.

  • While making this project I was learning about the struggles of homelessness in the city I grew up in, San Francisco. I think the most important thing that stuck to me throughout the process was how I realized anyone can end up being a victim to homlessness. No matter how hard you work, or how smart you are, there is a chance. Mental health, if left untreated or unsupported by the community or the people close to you was also a big part I focused on. It inspired me to include stories of the people I know around me who have struggled with drug abuse and mental health as well as their strong battles against it. This project has made me reflect on my own situation from the past to the present and it has given me an outlet to share my very own experiences in my writing.

  • Being creative to me is really just being present with yourself and to enjoy whatever that is you do or want to do. But I think it is to also be truthful with yourself.
