My inspiration can be traced back to my Asian heritage and my family. As a Vietnamese-American, it is difficult to connect to my culture while living in a foreign country, but I desire to maintain and improve upon my current connection to the motherland. To do so, I use my art as a way to learn more about my culture and implement my knowledge into my art pieces. Lastly, I want to honor those who have raised me to become the person that I am today. The piece that I have presented, βThe Protector,β is dedicated to my aunt who has stepped in to become like a second mother to me and has taken care of me during my earlier years of life while I was living in Vietnam. Art is not only my creative outlet but also my way of embracing and showcasing my identity.

Creativity is the ability to express simple thoughts by transforming them into complex physical forms. I have discovered that this power is activated when one embraces the mind one had as a younger child since children have the talent of being unconfined when it comes to using their imagination.
