The Protector

  • My inspiration can be traced back to my Asian heritage and my family. As a Vietnamese-American, it is difficult to connect to my culture while living in a foreign country, but I desire to maintain and improve upon my current connection to the motherland. To do so, I use my art as a way to learn more about my culture and implement my knowledge into my art pieces. Lastly, I want to honor those who have raised me to become the person that I am today. The piece that I have presented, β€œThe Protector,” is dedicated to my aunt who has stepped in to become like a second mother to me and has taken care of me during my earlier years of life while I was living in Vietnam. Art is not only my creative outlet but also my way of embracing and showcasing my identity.

  • Creativity is the ability to express simple thoughts by transforming them into complex physical forms. I have discovered that this power is activated when one embraces the mind one had as a younger child since children have the talent of being unconfined when it comes to using their imagination.
