The Doll Maker

  • After being diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel, I found myself heart broken. It’s weird to get it at such a young age after all, but I had “drawn” myself to injury. However, the doctor told me I didn’t have to stop drawing completely, so very slowly, a little bit every once and a while, I worked on this piece. I used this piece to practice things like backgrounds and colors, but I also found myself falling in love with characters I created a long time ago. Being able to update their designs with new skills I’ve now learned is like repairing an old and worn out toy. My characters in this piece, Ann Halphen and her doll Annie, have been with me for years. Being able to draw something with them as I work through my injury, allowed it to not be so bad.

  • Creativity means everything to me. From the things I make, to the way I dress myself. I think the world is made of creativity. Technology, clothes, books, music, art, movies, furniture, architecture, everything is made from creativity. Without creative minds, we wouldn’t have the world we live in today.
