The Chemistry Sink Is Secretly Van Gogh

The Chemistry Sink, long abused by greasy hands, sticky substances, and harsh acids, had become a silent victim of countless lab sessions. Yet, it stood resilient as I washed my hands once more after class. As I turned the faucet, something caught my eye—a shimmering glow emerging from the water. To my astonishment, beneath the flow, the sink revealed a hidden masterpiece. Sparkling blue splatters, illuminated by the water’s light, formed constellations that resembled Van Gogh’s Starry Night. In that moment, The Chemistry Sink became my muse. I crouched over the sink, flashlight in one hand, camera in the other, snapping nearly 100 photos during my off period. The result was worth the curious stares from classmates. Who knew such beauty could be hidden in something so ordinary? I hope you, too, can find inspiration in the unexpected, just as I found it in The Chemistry Sink’s secret art.

Creativity to me means is imagining possibilities in unconventional circumstances , and utilizing these possibilities to create an idea that achieves a goal. For my entry, it meant seeing opportunity in the artful Chemistry Sink and utilizing this opportunity to create an image to invoke appreciation of mundane items in others.
