Sweet Life by Frank Ocean

I have been singing since age 9 and have studied various genres ranging from Broadway musicals to popular music to Indian Carnatic Classical. I’ve also been singing in the Ragazzi Boys Chorus for 7 years, singing songs from around the world, like an Itneg folk song, and classics like Ave Maria. When I first started singing, I would try to imitate the original singer perfectly. But as I continued to study singing, I found my own voice to interpret songs from my heart. Instead of thinking with my head and focusing on technical perfection, I let each practice session takes me in a different direction. I love trying new versions of the same song before settling on the version for a performance. Like for this video, I recorded different interpretations and didn’t choose the best one technically, but the one where I connected most to the music.

Creativity means not worrying about what others will think of my art. For singing, it means choosing the songs that resonate with my personality and experience and communicating a certain feeling and mood to others. Creativity means continuing past sticking points and not being afraid to change direction.
