Summertime by The Sundays

Emily T.

  • Summertime by The Sundays is a joyful song that truly shows the nature of summer, youth, and love. Every time since my first listen, I’m filled with warmth and a sense of peace. The unique and twangy guitar and Harriet Wheeler’s ecstatic vocals always inspire me to create something fun and uplifting myself. In my performance, I wanted to bring forth the softer and more subtle emotions out from the song’s upbeat feeling and showing that the experience of summer and youth is different for everyone. I aimed to convey that this song, and the feelings it evokes, can be personal for each listener. Through my interpretation, I want to let others connect with this song in their own way by getting in touch with their own experiences and emotions. Everyone can find a little bit of themselves in this song.

  • To me, creativity is a means of expressing emotions and ideas in an unrestrained way, while learning from the process. My creativity is a reflection of myself and a way I can get out of my comfort zone and put stuff out into the world without shame.
