Spreading My Wings

Piper J.

Clay, paper, paint, wire

  • As I approach the end of my time at home and look to go across the country for college I have had to reckon with the idea of becoming more independent. This piece represents the positive aspect of that as I am being given the opportunity to “spread my wings” and enter the world. The wheel thrown jar represents the safety of my family and childhood home while the butterfly’s made of painted paper extending out on wires represent me and my dreams.

  • Creativity is the ability to adapt and invent. For me that manifests itself in the form of pottery and painting, but I see its benefits daily at school and in solving problems.
