Rogue has always been one of my favorite X-Men, her struggles and way she views her powers differ from many of the other X-Men, as they end up being more of a curse than a gift most of the time. I wanted to portray her in the same way that the X-Men animated series from the 90’s and the new X-Men 97’ series did, illustrating her both her beauty and strength as well as her personality. I based the initial design off the 97’ character, but went for more realism-the initial pose was probably the most difficult to figure out. Originally I had just planned to use alcohol markers to color the entire thing, but decided to try my hand with colored pencils as well to add more expression to the piece, and it helped immensely. The blending of the pencils and markers added so much life to the artwork.

Creativity to me means being able to be passionate about something and to be able to look at it with a unique perspective. It doesn’t always mean creating something new or never seen before, but that you can do something in your own style or offer something new to others.
