Procrastination | A Short Film

As a filmmaker, I want to tell stories that people can relate to personally. Since the pandemic, there’s been a surge of procrastination, defined as the act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute or past their deadline. Unfortunately, along with most my peers, I’m one of these procrastinators and I wanted to share what its like for me whenever I find myself procrastinating (always). As a student of music, I made sure to utilize the musical choice I decided on, George Gershwin’s classic: ”Rhapsody in Blue.” Being a rhapsody, I was able to explore multiple moods while sticking to the same piece; you can notice how the beats of the music function as the tempo for my film as well. I had lots of fun directing, shooting, and editing this film over a day and learned a lot about what it means to be a filmmaker.

Creativity in a film to me can be derived into how well the story’s told and personal touch. I’m a firm believer of stealing like an artist, so I know nothing can truly be ”original”; knowing this, an artist’s own unique imagination is very important to making it creatively theirs.
