“Pressing the Button”: The monkey is launching a rocket into the sky. The monkey represents humanity, while the rocket represents dreams for the future. For centuries, people tried to get a man on the moon. Even though that seemed like a fantastical pursuit back then, it happened and now we are sending rovers to Mars and all sorts of new missions. This piece shows how through time and hard work, dreams are attainable. When I was painting this, I ran into many challenges, such as painting the monkey and getting the sky to look how I wanted, but instead of giving up I kept at it until I was happy. Even when it gets tough, it’s important not to give up on dreams.

Creativity is a way to express myself. For example, in school, whenever I drop in a little doodle that relates to the topic at the corner of my homework, I find myself enjoying learning. Being creative helps me in both my artwork and in real life.
