Poems of Heartbreak

I completed a series of poems that are separate but all connected to the emotions that I was feeling in the wake of a breakup. I was already using poetry as a means to make sense of my emotions before this relationship ended, but the way it served as an outlet for what I was feeling transformed my identity as a writer. For a time, I was writing almost exclusively about the sadness, disillusionment, distrust, and confusion I was feeling. This helped me both to understand the extent of the feelings I was having, but also to creative something unique and beautiful while doing it. I have since published work in my school’s literary magazine, along with digital portfolios on public blog sites. I will continue using creative writing to work out and express my emotions, and I trust I will continue to change as a writer as time passes.

Creativity is how the individual beauties that everyone possesses can be expressed. For me, creativity is a way in which I can release the emotional tension and confusion that I have felt in life. Creativity is a liberty from all rules and expectations, and allows for true, uncensored expression.
