I wanted to emphasize the feeling of pretending or putting on one’s best self for others. The idea is that a facade will always come apart, and individuality is more important than conformity. I went for messier strokes, because it is supposed to contrast the perfect facade people put on. Duller colors are used to represent the subject’s detachment from self identity, as they attempt to conform and “perform”.

Creativity to me is the way to express one’s inner-world and ideas in a passionate and original manner. It is an intuitive understanding of aesthetics, and the way to manipulate them to create meaning, connection, and expression.
