This piece reflects my experiences with friendships, often feeling like a “nomad” as people moved away or took different paths. Abandonment has been a recurring theme in my life, but I’ve learned to find support by focusing on my own goals. Dance has been a constant, providing me with both something to work toward and a community. The inspiration for this piece came from Clairo’s music, which inspired my movement through her unique voice and layered instrumentals. I used the music to map out movement phrases, aiming to maintain a continuous flow. As I moved, I wove between her lyrics, sharp notes, and waves of sound, letting these elements guide my dynamics. As the energy in the song grew, so did my movements, with accents built from the growing drum beats .Overall, my piece reflects the layers of the song and the story I wish to tell.
