My translation of ”Tahoe” - Original

Jack S.

  • On a cold night in Tahoe during my freshmen year, I composed “Tahoe” on my guitar. Sitting by my snow-covered windows, I tried to translate the music into nature’s beauty, but it couldn’t match. I spent the rest of the trip listening to my song, hunting for an image to reflect its melody, but none were perfect. After returning home, I lost motivation to find the perfect picture. Then on November 11th, I spotted a flyer for the “Creative Youth Awards,” reigniting my drive to finish what I’d started. The next day, I re-recorded my song and went on a walk, hoping to discover a depiction. After several tries, I crossed a creek I had always avoided. There, I took my photograph illustrating the sparks of beauty and imperfections throughout the song. I then translated the scene into my art style and merged it with the song for my entry.

  • To me, creativity is a beautiful gift that enables us to transform our imagination and emotions into reality. It appears everywhere and is expressed in countless forms. I believe all expressions of creativity are interconnected, and I attempted to illustrate this through connecting three styles of creativity in my entry.
