This piece is about exploring the strong symbolism and spiritual role Lord Shiva plays in Indian culture. Shiva, as a figure of transformation, destruction, and renewal, stands strong to remind one of resilience-hence, qualities that I personally relate to. I worked within the Indian folk art tradition because its vibrant colors, stylized lines, and storytelling depth capture the spiritual essence of the culture. The rich pattern and bold contrasts let me showcase the many facets of Shiva: destroyer and creator, the force at the very center of the cosmos. I let it reflect back the timeless value of Shiva’s teaching, even as it speaks to more intimate journeys, personal journeys we all make in search of balance and inner peace. In the painting Shiva, what I tried to capture was not a picture, but an essence of respect and contemplation, following a convention, yet adding my voice to the narrative.

For me, creativity is the ability to bring my ideas, emotions, feelings, and imagination into my work, whether it be in art form or literature. Creativity is the freedom to project my personality into anything with no limitations.
