A Ridge’s Ascension

I took this photo out near the top of Bolinas Ridge on a daytrip alone. Like most of my photos, it was an instinctual decision to get out of my house based on the lighting I saw and the clouds that I knew were there. I had also been here many times before admiring the beautiful sunset so I knew that this particular ridge would silhouette any subject that crossed its plain. As I soon as I saw the group of strangers up on that ridge I seized the short opportunity I had and took the photo. It immediately sung to me because one of my greatest hobbies, hiking in the great outdoors, is embedded in this image. Getting away from technology and breathing the fresh, crisp air is something I always love, and I am so lucky to live in a place that allows me the opportunity to hike.

Photography to me is an adventure; It lets me see life through a different lens, whether its a landscape in Yosemite or an ordinary bus stop in San Francisco. It brings me to places I would usually never go and its truly something I love to do.
