Before my sister blew out her candles on her 11th birthday, I remembered one of the elements of photography that my Yearbook Publications teacher had taught me - the importance of lighting. She said that lighting could either be your best friend or worst enemy. A good photographer learns not just how to use the light, but to WORK with it to help tell your story. This picture is brought to life by simply enhancing the focusing on the flames. When I look at this photo, I can hear the ”Happy Birthday” Song being sung, and recall the feeling of being surrounded by the people you love most.
