To Whom Do I Belong

Roxanne O.

  • Sometimes it's hard to identify with one group, or multiple groups, especially if you were born into it. As a Vietnamese American girl, who is also a member of the LGBTQ community, that also believes in a Christian God, I was left very confused of where I should be, or of where my "loyalties" should lie. And it's taken me, an incredibly long time, and a lot of nights spent awake, to figure it out. But I've found, that I actually don't know. And perhaps time will tell me, but I think I can be content, knowing just enough, and making a group to which only I belong. The concept, that I belong to myself, that I am solely and ineffably, mine.

  • Creativity, to me, is one's way to express themselves in a way that others may not understand. It allows someone to be themselves in an abstract and perhaps not concise way, yet in the clearest and most accurate way possible. Creativity can convey emotion that regular words cannot.
