• Artist Statement

  This painting means a lot to me. The artistic process of creating and learning along the way was a journey. My painting , The New Cycle, is about how expected energy disasters and their impacts in todays time are, specifically oil spills. I love the ocean and want my future career to be in the marine bio field. I wanted this painting to show my learning process of, understanding color theory, visual movement, understanding of medium, and passion for our marine friends, in this case whales. I've always had a passion towards whale's and their conservation. This painting is made of acrylic paint and is 4ft x 3ft big, featuring a humpback whale and a burning oil tanker. This painting took around 4 weeks to finish and I was under the mentoring of my amazing AP art teacher.

  Creativity to me means expressing my self through my hobbies, creating something about my passions, feeling self affirmed, and free.
