Sonata No. 1, Adagio by Bach

Owen X.

  • The Adagio from Bach's Violin Sonata No. 1 possesses two different major types of notes: the big chords (the pillars) and the smaller fast notes (the fillegrie). What I intended to do was to emphasize the pillars, giving them a solid grounding, while letting the fillegrie freely flow to the next pillar. In this way, it is as if I am building something, making sure my pillars are well-grounded, and then decorating around it.

  • Every violinist may follow the same score, but it is creativity that makes a piece of music stand out. Creativity is how you shape each phrase and how you press each note. It is a personalized overview of your piece, each detail crafted meticulously to create a complete artwork.
