I wanted to express my connection to the Coast Redwood trees of California. All my life I have felt sheltered by these beings, so I drove to the crest of the Santa Cruz mountains where a 1,900 year tree named Methuselah makes her home. I set up my camera in the redwood duff to shoot this self portait. These trees have always been a constant in my life, and I've always felt safe in their presence.

I believe that the main meaning to life on this planet is to create. Humans have this unique ability, and it is one of the reasons we have thrived so much. Whenever I bring my creations into this world if fills me with joy, pride, and satisfaction.
