Preserving Remains

Sneha T.

Graphite Pencil, Charcoal, Watercolor

  • The main message I wanted to convey through my artwork is the astonishing fact that my culture curated by legendary South Asian poets, artists, singers, and dancers, curated about 5,000 years ago has been kept alive, and is equally admired to this day. The background of this artwork shows the styles of art that can be found on the walls of ancient caves in South Asia. These designs have been practiced for over 3000 years, and the faded watercolor in the backdrop symbolizes the old, but rich age of South Asian culture. The bold faced woman in the middle embodies the idea that one can exist in the modern world and still appreciate their culture to be prominent aspect of their identity.

  • Creativity provides an outlet to pour my expressive and daring thoughts into. Whether it be creating an original piece of artwork, or visualizing a pure imaginative thought, it amazes me how beautiful a single idea can be morphed into an artwork that allows me to share my creativity with others.
