Clay and Glaze

• Artist Statement

  Yayoi and her artwork were symbolized by a mushroom house. To create the mushroom's top, I molded soft clay into a broad, rounded shape. To give further details, I incorporated moss and a few tiny mushrooms attached to the stem. I hollowed out the stem so that there is not moisture trapped in the clay that would expand and explode during the firing.

  It means imagination because it influences everything we do, think about and create.
