Make No Mistake

Jacob E.

  • As an aspiring author, I have always been a fan of the fantasy genre. The idea that we can create worlds with the typing of a keyboard has always been fascinating, and it has been a hobby of mine for a long time. “Make No Mistake” is a piece that I hope will one day become a novel. I wanted to combine the wonder of a fantasy world with the excitement of a mystery and thriller to captivate the audience. Mystery stories are often set in the real world because it takes less explaining; mysteries require logic and attention to detail, and some may find the extensive world building to be tiresome. However, I find that diving headfirst into a world of my own is exciting. This story follows a young detective, Celestion, as he investigates the sudden death of the king. Set in a rural town, far from the castle and kingdom capital, Celestion finds himself suspicious of the “accident”: the bloody death of the king in the town’s cathedral. The investigation had originally been blocked by the royal guard, but since they have all gone home for the night, he is able to sneak into the crime scene unnoticed.

  • Creativity is the ability to express oneself without discrimination. Some people believe that creativity dulls with age, but I believe that anyone can be creative so long as they are willing to think outside of the box. I would not give away my creativity for anything.
