Made of Stardust

Nitika S.

  • These poems are from a collection of poetry I call My First Apocalypse. To fall in love is to be in the midst of an apocalypse. There is no safety when you are offering your own heart to someone else. These poems explore the spectrum of love and the lack of it. Even though, it is our innate desire to love and be loved, be careful who you shine for, and always make sure your light doesn’t dim for another person. We are all galaxies, complex and beautiful, and that is worth loving. We pour our love and light into others and hope they are strong enough to absorb and reflect it. To be vulnerable is to ascend the blockade we all put up. It’s not rocket science that we are all afraid of (loving) each other. These poems tell 3 different stories with the same connection: with love comes the fear of losing something beautiful, and that is why we choose to stay afraid and on the surface level. Written in one shot, each poem is a confessional style of poetry.

  • Creativity means introspection, diving deep into the unknown, and letting it take over me. It's an outlet, a poem, a song, a dance, a joke, and a kiss. It's the way I view the world. I choose to be a muse and an artist; this is a gift.
