Love, Death, and Exhaustion

Sophie J.

  • These three poems are a collection of images I see in my head, what I feel based on life experiences, and my perspective and interpretation of death with a poetic flare to it. Music heavily influences my writing, it helps me depict this image in my head and feel more emotions so the words just flow from my fingertips. Sometimes even phrases or a simple word will get my brain brewing, and once I have an idea, I have to get it down or I’ll lose it. I love poetry so much, it makes my heart happy, so does reading and analysing other works by poets such as Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, and more.

  • It’s how I express myself. Some artists use drawing or painting as their expression, poetry is mine. I love to say that “my poetry is the ink splatters of my soul, together they look like stars,” that’s my motivation.
